1. What is the Virtual Congregation?
The Virtual Congregation is an online ceremony that celebrates our graduates in 2020. It involves traditional Congregation elements such as degree conferral, presentation of graduates, and speeches by the President and respective Deans. Graduates will each be presented by Deans and faculty members along with a customized slide with their submitted portrait, name and degree information.
The Ceremony will be broadcasted on multiple platforms. Details of the broadcast will be announced closer to the event dates. Each session will last for 40-60 minutes.
2. When is the Virtual Congregation?
The Virtual Congregation will be held in 16 sessions for different degrees, on 21, 22 and 28 November 2020. Details can be found here.
3. How can I attend the Virtual Congregation?
The virtual Congregation will be broadcasted on multiple platforms. The broadcast links will be announced in early Nov in this website. The broadcast is one-way – you are not required to appear on camera. We hope you engage in the ceremony by uploading your portrait by Oct 9, 2020 for the presentation of candidates. You are also welcome to share your photos on social media with #hkustgrad2020.
4. Do I have to participate in the Virtual Congregation?
No, participation in the Virtual Congregation will be optional. If you choose not to participate, standard graphics instead of your photo will appear in its place.
5. Do I need to wear academic regalia for the Virtual Congregation?
Wearing your academic regalia during the broadcast of Virtual Congregation is optional. But you are still welcome to rent or purchase an academic regalia for photo-taking or other personal arrangements. For more information, please visit here.
6. Will the Virtual Congregation be available to view at a later date?
The Virtual Congregation will be available on archived webcasts after the events in case you miss it or would like to revisit the moments. Please pay attention to further notice.
1. How can I rent or purchase academic regalia?
For rental and purchase of academic regalia, you need to make order at the site of the service provider. Details can be found here.
2. How can I order graduation souvenirs?
To order graduation souvenirs, please use the Graduation Services System. You might select the delivery options in the system.
3. Can my family and I go to school to take photos?
Depending on the social distancing measures in place, the University may make special arrangements to facilitate the graduating class to bring family and guests on campus for photo-taking in a designated period from mid-November to early December. Please stay tuned for more updates in October. Details will be announced via email and on the Announcement section.
1. How and when will I receive my diploma and transcript?
The degree diploma together with a free academic transcript will be ready for collection after the degree conferment in late-November 2020. Details will be announced around October 2020.
Please be reminded that, before collecting the documents, you should SETTLE ALL FEES (e.g. tuition fee, medical insurance fee, library fines, etc.) and RETURN ALL BELONGINGS (e.g. PRS handset, etc) owed to the University. AT LEAST FIVE WORKING DAYS should be allowed for the clearance procedure.
